This session is open to all teachers, including teachers who are already involved in the Innovative Learning Environments community, those interested in joining the community, or those interesting in learning more about what is going on around our school district!
What are Innovative Learning Environments?
For the last 2 years, teams of educators across the district have been coming together to imagine how they might bring the 7 OECD Principles of Learning to life in their classroom, using the 6 WISE recommendations in community. This allows for teachers to co-plan, co-teach, regroup students in various ways, and integrate learning in creative ways. The goal is to create learning environments that empower students to take charge of their own learning in deep and meaningful ways. For more information, see:

The afternoon will be split into two sections:
Option 1 - Innovative Learning Environments in Action: This will be an opportunity to hear from other teachers who are innovating their practice, as well are share your own stories. This session will include an opportunity to submit a proposal to visit other classrooms within the school district to see and experience how some teachers are bringing OECD Principles of Learning to life. It will also include a chance to hear from students!
Option 2 - Continuing to work on numeracy with Marian Small. Please register for this session. It is titled Innovative Learning Environments: Part Two - Diving More Deeply with Marian Small.
Lunch will be provided.
